Tried and Tested Beauty Bits
NO matter how many times you attempt to reinvent your beauty routine, there are always some products that you invest in time and time again. These are the ones you can rely on, which have transformed you from pasty to glowing in a matter of minutes. They tend to be staple products from make-up brands that have withstood the test of time. Here are a few of my personal favourites…
Optrex Refreshing Eye Drops €5.49 – Not the most glamorous of choices but I find this a lifesaver for perking up tired eyes. All you need is a small squirt in each eye and hey presto, you look wide awake even though you may not feel it! It’s also brilliant for anyone that suffers from hayfever reliving tired watery eyes in an instant. No amount of eye make up can disguise weary eyes but this gets to the root of the problem immediately and Optrex are the best brand I have tried.
MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder €24 – I think pressed powder is a make up essential as it combats shine and holds make up with a quick flick of a brush. MAC compacts are great as they come with a enclosed mirror and sponge, the sleek black packaging looks great too which is always a plus. However if you’re on a budget, Rimmel’s range of powders are a close second.
Benefit Lipgloss in Sugarbomb €21– a slick of lipgloss is ideal for touching up without looking like you’ve gone to much trouble. Lipgloss is much easier apply on the move in comparison to lipstick, we want to avoid strawberry coloured teeth at all costs. This shade is a neutral nude, perfect for a low maintenance glossy pout.
NYC Big Bold Mascara €3.49– Available in Penneys at a more than reasonable price this truly is a brilliant product. A super hydrating formula coupled with a large volumising brush gives a false lash effect without having to go to all the trouble. Perhaps it’s just me but I am more than useless at putting them on, more than likely due to my lack of patience. One coat is perfect for daytime but layer it up at night and watch your lashes go from wispy to WOW…
Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation €8.95– I use different foundations depending on the occasion from Revlon’s Nearly Naked for day to Chanel Prefection Lumiere at night. That said this Rimmel product is a staple in many of my friend’s make up bags and I can see why. It’s an affordable price, comes in a great range of colours and gives good coverage. What’s not to love?
