New Season Make-Up Previews
GENERALLY when we talk new season, it’s to do with fashion but as well as the gorgeous coats, boots and accessories hitting the shelves, new season make-up is pretty lustworthy too. Palettes are big news for AW13 with practically every brand introducing one making it impossible to choose just one. Look away now if you’re watching your bank balance…
MAC – This autumn, MAC are to launch a collection dedicated to fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez who was hot property circa 1960-1980. He shot to fame by illustrating for Vogue, Elle, Valentino and Missoni to name but a few. Part of the appeal with MAC products is the gorgeous packaging so be warned, this collection is guaranteed to test your willpower. The collection contains three eye palettes, two face palettes and three lip palettes inspired by the 80’s plus a patterned make up bag and compact mirror.
It’s hard to pick just one product from this line but I’m in lust with the 6 Eyes Teal Palette that includes colour popping shades such as Fashion Legend and Night Train. Electric blue and forest green might be a daring choice but used in moderation it can change your look instantly. It hasn’t been here released yet so euro prices aren’t finalised but rest assured it won’t be cheap like all MAC products.
Lancome – The Parisian beauty house’s latest offering is entitled L’Absolou Desir and features the stunning Kate Winslet, shot by renowned photographer Mario Testino. The Blush Rose Desir is pricey at €45 but simply gorgeous encased in stylish black and gold packaging, the orange will sculpt your cheeks while the pink creates a gentle radiant hue.
Vernis In Love are long lasting and easy to apply nail varnishes available in plum (Purple Fiction), grey (Grey Lumiere) and black (Brown Sepia) for €18. The dark moody tones of the varnishes are complemented by the dark lipstick shade but there also pink and red tones for the more traditional, priced at €26.
Aerin – The Fall 2013 palette from Aerin offers a masterclass in make up subtlety. Shades are sheer to medium in this palette and it’s ideal if you want to achieve a ‘make up but no make up’ look, using beautiful nude colours interspersed with a rich velvety navy. That’s before even mentioning the luxurious gold case which will make a welcome addition to any make up bag or your handbag.
Retailing at €56 it isn’t cheap but personally I think it’s worth it as this buy alone will freshen up your make-up look for the season ahead. The collection also features a range of limited edition lipsticks and lipglosses plus a kayal eyeliner for €28, designed to give eyes definition and a smouldering stare.
