Is Beyoncé’s Life Really That Flawless?
ONE of the first concerts I ever went to was Destiny’s Child in the Point in 2000. I rocked up with my glow sticks in my Destiny’s Child t-shirt and combat camouflage trousers (scarlet for me but they were really in fashion at the time, I swear). Survivor was their biggest hit at the time. How amazingly talented and cool were these besties from Texas? Beyoncé was my fave and it was pretty sound of Beyoncé’s mam to make them all matching outfits. In my childlike view you could tell Beyoncé was her favourite too because she had the best outfits. Any Beyoncé CD, t-shirt or poster – I bought it. I bought into her independence, talent and femininity.
Like so many girls my age, Beyoncé has been one of my role models. Talent, determination, power and class have always been words associated with her. In the words of Drake, girls love Beyoncé. Yes, we do. Any moment in my life Queen Bee has been there for me. Run The World came out when I graduated from college. Best Thing I Never Had and Irreplaceable have been on repeat when any man did me wrong and I shed a few tears when she sang at Obama’s inaugural (I’m a big softie). No night was complete without a Beyoncé song and an attempt at pulling off her dance moves.
Unlike other stars you’d never see Queen Bey fall out of a taxi drunk, shave her head or receive a DUI. Beyoncé has achieved so much and has always seemed to keep her class and privacy. For someone who has always persisted to live a private life, in recent times Beyoncé has opened up to us a bit since the birth of her child and it has made some fans love her even more as we catch a slight glimpse of her life as Mrs. Carter.
Now it seems Beyoncé doesn’t have control over what the public see of her and every day there seems to be another controversy or rumour. When the video emerged of Solange attacking Jay Z in the elevator. The press have been having a field day sparking up rumours about divorce as cheating rumours are ringing the alarm. Whether they are crazy in love or it’s on to the next one, time is going to tell. For now Beyoncé’s coping method has been going on tour with her husband, posting heaps of loved-up pictures on Instagram and remixing Flawless with Nicki Minaj. ‘Of course shit goes down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator’. Whatever is going on in the Carter camp, it’s the first time she has undergone such scrutiny in her private life. We wish Queen Bey the best and hope her and Jay Z’s love comes out on top.
