10 Reasons Why We Love Autumn
BOOTS – Big, Tall, Leathery Boots
No more dirty flip flop feet, no more sandal blisters, no more expensive pedicures. The shops are finally once again filled with gorgeous, stylish winter boots. From biker boots to riding boots, there’s something to suit everyone and not a disgusting, cracked heel in sight!
The Return of Hot Drinks
During our mini-heatwave of a summer, it was almost impossible to consider drinking anything that didn’t have ice as a main component. However, with autumn comes the Pumpkin Spice Latte, the Praline Mocha and the Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Nothing better to keep you warm on a cold college morning.
Once again, these hideous yet ridiculously comfortable pyjamas are back in style and with the formidable Irish winter on the way you’d be stark raving mad not to invest in one! Penneys do them best with styles starting from as little as €12. You can’t go wrong, like!
Crunchy Autumn Leaves
There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, more life-affirming than strolling around St. Stephens Green with gloves on, Praline Mocha in hand and crunching through the orangey-brown leaves.
Don’t lie. You still love it.
Back to College Class Parties
Whether you’re starting college for the first time or you’ve been there longer than you’d like to admit, you can’t beat the first class party of the year to remind you why you bother going to lectures.
For those of us who need more money (i.e. everyone), Autumn is the perfect time to take another crack at the job search. Most retail shops begin hiring Christmas staff in September/October so perfect that CV and land yourself a part-timer to tide you over during the festive season.
Sure, during the summertime you can stroll around jacket-less like some sort of carefree Californian but with autumn comes fabulous fashion in the form of winter coats! Parkas, pea coats, wool coats or even fur coats for those a bit more daring – it’s a definite way to update your wardrobe effortlessly!
Everyone’s favourite excuse to wear minimal clothing. Aside from the outrageous outfits and the priceless next-day walk of shames (or strides of pride?), Halloween means fireworks, bonfires, scary movies and most importantly – unthinkable amounts of sweets.
The Return of Good TV
Orange is The New Black may have got you through the summer but autumn sees the return of New Girl, Bones, Criminal Minds, The Mindy Project, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife and (ahem) X Factor. If that’s what you’re into.
